Each pane was progressively refined and polished until the scraper scratches and all repair marks were no longer visible.

The problem

Incorrect scraper use had left numerous scratches across three bi-fold door panes.

The marks became especially obvious in afternoon sunlight and extended across several fitted panes.

ClearAll were called to a domestic address by a customer who needed scratched glass repair to 3 bi-fold doors due to multiple glass scratches, caused by a cleaner using a metal scraper incorrectly.

Unfortunately the scraper had left the 3 bi-fold doors with numerous glass scratches to remove which were very noticeable, especially in the afternoon when the sun was on the glass showing just how badly scratched the bi-fold doors were.

Luckily we know how to remove scratches from glass and in a matter of hours the bi-folds doors were as good as new!

Remove the glass scratches from all three panes.

The deepest scraper scratches were removed with the coarsest suitable cutting disc. Each damaged area was expanded and blended evenly so the glass remained flat and free from optical distortion.

Refine the first cut with a finer abrasive.

A finer abrasive replaced the first cutting pattern with a more refined finish. The full repair area on every door was worked evenly before the next stage began.

Continue refining while keeping each pane flat.

A still finer grade reduced the previous sanding marks. Careful checks under changing light confirmed that no original scratches remained and the surface profile stayed consistent.

Complete the finest sanding stage before polishing.

The final cutting grade prepared the repaired glass for polishing. Each pane was checked from several angles so no coarse marks were carried into the finishing stage.

Polish the bi-fold door glass back to clarity.

A specialist polishing pad and compound removed the fine sanding pattern and restored the original clarity and shine of the fitted glass.

Inspect all three doors under a bright light.

All three panes were cleaned and inspected using a bright light. The original scratches and every trace of the polishing process had been removed.

The scraper scratches were removed and all three bi-fold doors restored.

The fitted panes returned to a clear, scratch-free appearance in a matter of hours, avoiding the disruption and cost of replacing three glass units.
